Do Jew haters recognize their affliction? Are they purposeful about hating Jews, or do they think their ideas are the only possible way to understand the world? This is an important question, with serious implications, and I'm far too busy in the non-blogging world these days to engage in it. Still, Hawkeye at CiFWatch brings some interesting documentation to bolster the second explanation: systematic deleting of totally innocuous comments on a silly Guardian article. The only reasonable explanation I can think of is that these people are so totally detached from rational thought that they've, well, lost the ability to think rationally, and truly believe that disagreements with them must be expunged.
The problem, however, is that there are people around who do disagree with them. CiFWatch, for example. Which means the Guardianistas can't be unaware of dissenting positions, which in turn means they've made a conscious decision...
To the contrary, these are very committed, principled people.
ReplyDeleteHaving witnessed the results of systematic, global (and rather efficient) Jew hatred in Europe, generally, Eastern Europe (more specifically), and Germany (most specifically), they seem willing, nay eager, to repeat it, even it means suffering and destruction on a massive scale.
Such selflessness! Such devotion for the cause!
Can't get more committed or principled than that.
Should be "...even if it means..."
ReplyDeleteMichael Oren may be off topic or maybe not ...
ReplyDeleteafter all that this man is performing so well not least during the Q&A (no manuscript, no tele-prompter), that he has a very attractive voice and way of speaking and on top of it all photographs really well must drive them nuts whenever they look in a mirror or at their writings and realize that all that is and will forever be out of reach for them. So stop bashing them, have some mercy on those whose envy must make their innards give them pain galore each and every day.
... and the good news is, Oren could speak, so hopefully plain good ol' courtesy may become fashionable again (my generation must have been nuts when we believed it was a brilliant idea to do away with it)

Blind hate of the Jews can be funny:

Little Dickie's excuse for his blooper is even more hilarious. Evidently no-one told him that when he is in a hole he should stop digging.
ReplyDeleteI think there are different kinds/types of antisemites, but they all dedicate such an amount of energy, that one can only conclude that this obsession is quite emotionally soothing. Being rational and critical is tough.
ReplyDeleteEnd of psychobabble...
Regards.
at one time I had a group of colleagues who would constantly harp about how the "mosaic ones" were able to advance so much faster than they and that that was due to the fact that in a company with "mosaic elements" one of that "kind" would get preference. I was in personnel at the time and saw nothing supporting their view.
ReplyDeleteBut even if there had been It baffled me at the time and still does, if they deemed creating a close-knit group, a "Seilschaft" (roped party in mountain climbing) was the secret for success why didn't they create one for themselves instead of spending all their energy complaining and moaning.
The only advantage I could see in that for them was that this accord in bemoanables helped a kind of bonding along and allowed them to go on claiming that only we women gossip while they exchanged useful insiderish information. (we were very few women in that office so we could lead the life of cherished angels and didn't have to do much bonding via vicious gossip)

In my experience, Jews in positions of authority tend to hire non-Jews just to eliminate any thoughts of favoritism. Sometimes this can be taken to an absurd level - there's only room for one "Jew" in the company, etc.
ReplyDeleteRe: Sergio's comment. Anti-Semitism persists, in part, because it is adaptive and reparative. For a person or a society which is unable to tolerate the idea that they contain serious flaws which interfere with their ability to succeed in their life, the possibility of using the Jew/Jewish state as an all purpose, externalized scapegoat upon which to project all their failures is almost impossible to resist. For example, it is not that the Arab world/culture fails at building a modern society, but rather it is the evil, superhuman Jews who thwart their righteous efforts at every turn. If the Jew disappeared, the anti-Semite would be bereft.
