Here's a link to a fascinating talk by the Rav Re'em Hacohen about the divine origins of the Torah, and the impact of human choice upon them. It's in Hebrew, and it's long. If you can deal with those two, I recommend.
Due disclosure: Back when the rav was a child in short pants and sandals, he and I were in the same class at school.
Hi Yaacov,
ReplyDeleteThank you for sharing this. The effort to study Tanach in a more serious way is, in my opinion, one of the major contributions Religious Zionism has made to the torah world.
A couple of questions/observations.
1. You mentioned that you went to high school with Rav Re'em. It strikes me as a very good example of just how small and interconnected this country is. Would you be interested in blogging more on this point, I think it is something that is lost on those outside the country. This is a small place and the degrees of separation are far fewer than even the US Jewish community.
2. Rav Re'em is the Rosh Yeshiva in Otniel. Under all peace plans Otniel would be evacuated. How do you square his religious and intellectual brilliance with political position you see as so wrong?
Thanks
Daniel
