The fellow who inspired this post just e-mailed me with a correction: "If you think I'm one of the looniest of Israel's loony Left, Yaacov, you're out of touch with Israel's Left".
This letter by a group of them to the Guardian, beseeching that Israel be boycotted, would indicate how right he is.
I suppose I should laugh.

Did you know that German and European Nazis plan the biggest ever demonstration in Dresden on Feb. 14th this year to "protest against the bomber holocaust" ?
If you're far enough to the left you'll meet your counterparts from the right, won't you.
