Hypocritical Turks

I'm wearying of the hypocrisy enamating from Turkey this year. Recep Tayyip Erdogan is at it again with a vengeance this week, lambasting Israel for imaginary crimes that never happened, or certainly didn't happen the way he describes. All the while, he's the Prime Minister of Turkey, the country which killed tens of thousands of its own citizens in its Dirty War against the Kurds. Google "Turkey's dirty war" and you'll get as much information as you need from as many sources as you wish.

In addition to saying that the Turks have created some 3 to 4 million refugees, the Wikipedia article on the PKK mentions that Turkey even bought weapons and anti-terrorist equipment from Israel. I don't know whether to laugh or cry.

Not to mention the Armenian Genocide that to this day the Turkish Government is not prepared to take responsibility for

Yaacov, do you ever notice how if Jews or Israelis were to point such facts out to senior Turkish officials it would insult Turkish honor and lead to a deterioration in relations? However, the Turks throwing such insults in our direction are merely a healthy dose of medicine, we are told, and asked to respond with "common sense".

Everyone has honor except us Jews. Everyone is allowed to be offended except us.

The global media is obsessed with respecting Arab honor. The checkpoints a humiliating to the Arabs. The settlements humiliate the Arabs. Jerusalem humiliates the Arabs.

No one is ever worried about disrespecting the Jews. No one is ever worried about insulting our honor, about disparaging our tribal laws. No Jewish leader speaks of standing up and exhibiting Jewish pride and Jewish honor and Jewish rights.

Well, there was one, and Netanyahu took his advice, 25 years late, but better late than never.

All this, of course, is atmospherics. The Turks are turning away from Israel because they are aiming to reclaim regional hegemony through pan-Islamism. That and, let's face it, snubbing Israel has no opportunity cost. Look how far Hamas has gotten doing more than snubbing.

Victor,

It's even worse. If Israel were to bring up the Armenian genocide, Turkey would "regain its honor" by persecuting Turkish Jews.

One of the reasons that some Jewish groups in America were reluctant to call the massacres of Armenians by Turks genocide is that they were scared about what retaliation Jews in Turkey would face. The government in Ankara has made veiled mob-type threats suggesting that if American Jews use the word genocide for what the Turks did to the Armenians, the Turks might not be able to protect the Jews in their country from the anger that their co-religions on the other side of the globe might arouse. The real Muslims, not the secular Turks, are taking over Turkey. There is no chance for good relations between Israel and Turkey, or Jews and Turks, now that the true believers are in charge in Turkey.

And don't forget, Jews are dhimmis whose role, according to Islamic theology, is one of humiliation in this world and burning in hellfire in the next. The idea of giving Jews honor is antithetical to everything Islam has taught for the past 1400 years. Any Insult by Jews or other non-Muslims toward Muslim believers is a violation of the Pact of Omar, meaning that the Jews have forfeited their "protected" status under Islamic rule and therefore can be persecuted, robbed, raped and killed.
