Achikam just called, depressed. He's at the hospital, where the doctors just amputated the hand of one of his soldiers.
It's not games these young men play at. It's dead serious.

Personal musings on Israel, Jewish matters, history and how they all affect each other

I have grown up amidst the mutilated - though they may have been evil ones as a child I didn't know the differenc and so besides feeling for the young man who lost his hand, for your son who may torture himself with all kinds of what-ifs (he shouldn't of course) I feel for the children who have to grow up with fathers (and mothers) who have experienced the horror of it all.
rgds,

Was that the soldier who was injured playing with ammunition? What a tragedy for a moment's carelessness to have such a terrible result.
I don't have all the details, but apparently they wren't playing - merely not being careful enough.
