Departing Forward reporter Nathaniel Popper tells of how he found significance in his Jewish identity. Sort of.
It's nice. Yet as I've said here repeatedly, being Jewish demands staying power; without it Jews cease being Jewish, or their grandchildren do. There's nothing I can discern in this story that tells of staying power, merely a moderate measure of good feelings.

I have a hard time digesting anything Forward prints as asserting anything to do with Judaism. This is the revenant of the Russian socialists and communists who came to America 110 years ago and started labor unions.
I disagree, the Forward is a Jewish paper, its just that its Jewish in the ethnic sense of the term rather than the religious sense.
